Follow Friday – B Comme Bon

by amiable

I barely passed my year of French with Madame Gross at Harriton High School. Over 20 years later, the only thing I remember how to say is, “je ne comprend pas” which pretty much sums up how well I can translate the beautiful blog B Comme Bon. Based on the gorgeous photos, it looks like the blog is about a woman who lives in France and enjoys travel, food and concerts. She has a cat and a fun group of friends who like to barbecue.

Google’s translation tool reveals prose (not sure if this is what the blog author intended, but it’s fantastic nevertheless).
For example:

July 24, 2010 — “Currants, black currants, blueberries … it’s the season of small berries. Red, purple, black with all shades in between, they wake a poor pale yogurt or cheese boring … but that’s not all, plain or in pies, jams or sauces, it’s time to stock up. Frozen on a tray and then put in bags, they will keep very well and wake up the sun on a cold winter day.”

July 12, 2010– “I take you away from the sweet song of pots for you to fill their ears. Ritual of the first weekend of July, heading to The Land Of Women

July 6, 2010 — “Summer is a season for contemplation … firstly because the holidays give us the last time and because you can spend hours at the water’s edge without catching a bad cold! To relax take a book … some other gardening … for me to stay at the water’s edge and enter the small plant world travel … I am a bee, a bumblebee … nature is active and shows us her … the Back on earth is sometimes hard …

Oh Madame Gross! Why didn’t I study more? You were right — I should have tried harder in class and then I would be able to better understand B Comme Bon. I guess I’ll just have to enjoy the photos.

Lessons learned:
–When your 9th grade French teacher implores you to study — do it! Speaking of which, Mrs Rose, you were right as well, I would need algebra later in life. Mrs Eisenstadt, I’m happy to report I still haven’t used my knowledge of geometry.
–I can’t hop on a plane to France right now, but I can live vicariously. Thanks to whomever created the page — keep it up! PS– I like chocolate so if I’m going to experience your life from afar, please try to eat lots of it.
–Note–all photos on this post were taken from B Comme Bon.

Amiable Life wants to interview you! Yes, you! Please email me at amiablelife@gmail.com and I’ll feature your family recipe and story.

Have a great weekend.
