So much food, so little time

by Amy

memeThursday night I had an awesome meal at Meme (www.memerestaurant.com) with co-owner Andrew Krouk, his wife Gabi and co-owner/chef David Katz. They (and the food) were all lovely. Andrew & Gabi’s story will be posted soon and I’m working on getting some kitchen time with David. Until then, if you go to Meme, my advice when ordering– just close your eyes and point to lots of menu items — it’s all fabulous.

briThis afternoon, I’m attending my first cookie exchange at my friend Bri’s house. Peppermint surprise cookies and dark chocolate shortbread cookies are my offerings. The peppermint cookies are pretty delicious but the shortbread tends to taste like sand so I’m a bit worried about those. I also made some chocolate fudge banana cookies, but I didn’t like their texture either so Kevin’s soccer team will be eating those tomorrow.

Speaking of tomorrow, I’m heading to Andrew Brown’s house to learn his mother Gail’s famous apple pancake recipe. I’ve never had apple pancakes but I like apples and I like pancakes so combining them is going to be fantastic. Andrew invited over a whole crowd to enjoy them.

ava-ballerina-artlingNext Thursday I’ll be eating Greek gluten-free food at my friend Karen’s house. She is the founder of Art2Love, a non profit that does art projects and creates art keepsakes with kids in hospitals and homeless shelters. It’s an incredible organization and could use your support. Visit their site at: http://art2love.wordpress.com/

Then there is Thanksgiving and I’m also working on a macaroni and cheese recipe from a writing class friend named Allison. Why am I telling you all this? Well, I’m asking for your patience. I’ve got a lot of eating and writing to do and I still need to go to my day job. Keep checking back for updates!
