Hectic

by Amy

“Hectic” was my mother’s answer to just about everything. “How’s life?” people would ask. “Hectic,” would be her reply.
“Can you be a classroom mom?” the teachers would ask.  “Nope, things are too hectic right now.”

I wondered why adult life was so hectic. Surely adults could set their own schedules; do what they want, when they want, right?

After running around so much that I haven’t had time to blog in over 2 weeks, I understand the concept of hectic.

Mom, if you’re reading this  . . . I get it. I can’t believe I’m about to say this, but I understand what you were feeling in those moments.

To the people I have interviewed lately — I’m sorry I haven’t posted your stories/recipes sooner. I haven’t forgotten about you (or your spinach pie, grandmother’s chicken, strawberry shortcake, nut cookies or spinach kugel). I haven’t forgotten the guy I met at Key West Tacos, or the awesome food I ate there.

Things have just been hectic. I’ll get to all of you soon. I promise.
